BREAKING NEWS

I'm 99% certain the intruder who attacked the Brazilian runner Vanderlei de Lima in the closing stages of the men's marathon, costing him the gold medal, was Cornelius "Neil" Horan, the apocalypse-obsessed irish former priest who was jailed for two months for trespassing on the track at last year's British Grand Prix.

I was mortified when I saw who it was - a drunk overgrown leprecaun. So much for racial stereotyping.
Lock him up, please...

The man is a danger to himself and others, and either needs locking up or treating. I'm amazed he survived his sojourn onto the Grand Prix track, but I wouldn't rate his chances if he chose to run onto a rugby pitch.

Maybe I'm cynical, but there's more than a hint of self-publicity about this guy. The BBC report on the aftermath gives quotes from his publisher (!) and the sign around his neck made reference to himself being the 'Grand Prix Priest'. The actions of a disturbed man, or just another publicity seeker?

For those who are not into brazilian portuguese speaking, `grande filho da puta`stands for `big son of a bitch` what I would fully agree with my brazilian friend.

Irish Radio (RTE Radio 1) had an interview with his brother. He was described as a religious maniac who has developed a real taste for media attention. The media coverage at Silverstone just encouraged him to aim for something bigger apparently.
Here is the link to the brother interview if your interested: http://www.rte.ie/news/2004/0830/newsatone/news1pm1a.smil

Its about 10 minutes.
